New to Grafted To Grow and not sure were to begin?
The Great I AM is the Lord God Almighty, Creator, Father, Governor and Redeemer of all.
That is My name: and My glory will I not give to another.
I am God, there is none like Me, and there is none else. Beside Me there is no Savior.
I have made the earth, and created man upon it;
My hands have stretched out the heavens, and all their hosts have I commanded.
The Lord is the true God; He is the living God and an everlasting King. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty.
I Am the Lord that maketh all things;
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath these things, that bringeth out their host by number;
He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might.
To whom then will ye liken Me, or shall I be equal? I AM that I AM.
Fear not, for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine.
I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee;
when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
For I Am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior.
I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters.
Therefore: Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high?
Who shall not fear (respect) thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? For Thou only art holy:
for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
Thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth, who exercises loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness.
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me. Jeremiah 9:23-24.
Therefore, our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God, revealing the things which He has prepared for us that love Him by His Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:5, 9, 10.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that one may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16.
Who of God is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption:
that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.1 Corinthians 1:30, 31.
There is none Holy as the Lord: for there is none beside Thee: neither is there any rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2:2.
Who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Exodus 15:11.
The crowning glory of Christ's attributes is His holiness. The angels bow before Him in adoration - Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. Revelation 4:8.
Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty:
for all that is in the Heaven and in the earth is thine; Thine is the Kingdom, O Lord, and Thou art exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11.
Therefore, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy. Leviticus 19:2.
Behold, the day of the Lord cometh...
The Lord shall be King over all the earth: on that day shall there be one Lord, and His name One. Zechariah 14:1, 9.
Christ was the King of Glory who clothed His divinity with humanity. He left the riches and adoration of Heaven and came to this world as a helpless babe.
At His second coming, the scene is changed. His divinity will not be concealed. He will come with His own glory and the glory of His Father.
Christ will come as one equal with God, as His beloved Son and Prince of Heaven and earth. Instead of a crown of thorns, He will wear a crown of glory.
He is acknowledged by all as the King of Glory. He will be clad in a garment of royalty.
At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Lord of heaven and earth, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10, 11.
The angels bow in adoration before Him. His enemies see the mistake they have made, and every tongue confesses His divinity.
And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, King of kings, and Lord of lords. Revelation 19:16.
The number of His subjects is made up - The kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole Heaven,
shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
It is about to be given to the heirs of salvation, and Jesus is to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.
Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. Psalms 145:13.
Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Revelation 15:3.
Unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible...Who is the blessed and only Potentate...Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto;
whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:17; 6:15, 16.
Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high? Psalms 113:5.
The Lord is the true God, He is the living God and an everlasting King. Jeremiah 10:10.
Here is why:
He hath made the earth by His power, established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by His discretion. Jeremiah 10:12.
Heathens in their blindness bow down to idols of wood and stone - These be our gods.
Nevertheless, in the fourth commandment we have the proof that our God is the true and living God. In it is the seal of His authority:
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God;
In it thou shalt not do any work...for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day;
Wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11.
Therefore, thus shall ye say unto them:
The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. Jeremiah 10:11.
Canst thou by searching find out God? Job 11:7.
It is as high as Heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? Job 11:11.
I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done. Isaiah 46:9. 10.
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts more than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9.
The things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God...Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:11, 12.
It is impossible for the finite minds of humans to fully comprehend the character or the works of the Infinite One.
The heart of Infinite God yearns after those who feel powerless to free themselves from the snares of Satan.
He graciously offers to strengthen them to live for Him.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.
I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye man of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 41:13, 14.
To those who feared they would not be received if returning to God, the prophet declares:
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:27-31.
Jesus rejoiced that the lowly and humble of the earth could comprehend the things pertaining to eternal life.
I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father:
And no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father,
save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Matthew 11:25-27.
The whole life of Christ was a revelation of the character of God - His Father who is our Father as well.
If ye had known Me, ye should have known my Father also; and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him...
He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. John 14:7, 9.
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. John 14:10.
In other words have you:
seen my works
listened to my teachings
witnessed the miracles that I have wrought in my Father's name
and yet have you not understood the nature of God?
In His life Jesus has unfolded to His disciples the character of His Father.
He is the brightness of His Father's glory and the express image of His person, representing Him as full of mercy, love, and light.
Christ took humanity upon Him in order that the light and radiance of divine love should not extinguish humankind.
When Moses pleaded - I beseech thee, show me thy glory, he was placed in the cleft of the rock, and the Lord passed by before him.
Christ revealed the Father to Philip as he had revealed Him to Moses when He passed by before him, and proclaimed:
The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Exodus 34:6.
Jesus proclaimed Himself to the world as the perfect representation of the Father, and invited the love and confidence of the world to be centered in the Father.
I am in the Father and the Father in me. John 14:11.
The Lord is a great God, And a great King above all gods...O come, let us worship and bow down:
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Psalm 95:3, 6.
Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. Psalm 100:3, 4.
The duty to worship God is based upon the fact that He is the Creator. To Him all other beings owe their existence.
Moreover, the Bible presents the evidence of God's creative power and His claims to reverence and worship above the gods of the heathen.
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel
to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come:
and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:6, 7.
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He gives to all life, and breath, and all things...
that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us:
for in Him we live, and move, and have our being. Acts 17:24-28.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.
The Lord looketh from Heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men.
From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. Psalm 33:12-14.
Therefore:
I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods I will sing praise unto thee.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalm 138:1, 2.
Furthermore:
All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth.
Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord.
Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off. Psalm 138:4-6.
I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior...and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no savior beside me. Isaiah 43:3, Hosea 13:4.
We cannot appear before God unless we are clothed in Christ's righteousness.
Though He came in the likeness of men, He declared Himself the I AM.
Before Abraham was, I AM. John 8:58.
The meek and lowly Savior is God manifest in the flesh.
No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. John 14:6; And him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37.
I AM thy salvation. Psalm 35:3.
Therefore: Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12.
Jesus is the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29.
He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows.
Moreover, He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4, 5.
Thus whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
Therefore, He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 1 John 5:12.
There is only One Way to Heaven.
I am the way...no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.
If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also; And from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him. John 14:6, 7.
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ...hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world.
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:3, 4, 7.
Christ is the seed of the woman bruising the serpent's head. He was the way when Adam lived.
Furthermore, He was the way by which patriarchs and prophets were saved. He is the way alone we can have access to God.
This saving truth is made to stand out plainly and clearly defined amid the moral darkness prevailing in our world.
For this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. John 18: 37.
To Jesus the truth was an ever-present, self-evident reality. He expressed no suggestions, sentiments, notions, or opinions.
He who came forth from God to our world gave instruction on every subject about which it is essential that humans should know in order to find the pathway to Heaven.
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. John 6:63.
Human transgression had separated earth from Heaven, and finite people from the infinite God.
As an island is separated from a continent, so earth was cut off from Heaven. Jesus bridged this gulf, and made a way for man to come to God.
He made an infinite sacrifice, because it was the only way whereby humankind could be saved.
One who has no spiritual light sees no way, has no hope. Therefore humans have originated theories of their own regarding the way to life.
If we could reach heaven through our own merits and efforts, then Christ need not have come to the world, to endure:
suffering, reproach, and shame
humiliation, mockery, insult, and death.
He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12.
God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5.
Thus in the words: I am the light of the world, Christ declared His oneness with God and His relation to the whole human family.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6.
He is the spiritual True Light, shining amid the moral darkness of superstition and error.
The bright beams of Him - the Sun of Righteousness shine upon the servants of God, and they are to reflect His rays.
Moreover, in the words: I am the light of the world, Jesus declared Himself the Messiah.
Mine eyes have seen Thy Salvation...A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. Luke 2:30, 32.
In these words the aged Semeon was applying to Jesus a prophecy familiar to all Israel.
It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel.
I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. Isaiah 49:6.
This prophecy was generally understood as spoken of Messiah. Thus when Jesus said - I am the light of the world, people could not fail to recognize His claim to be the Promised One.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Isaiah 61:1.
Thus He hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Timothy 1:10.
As The entrance of Thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Psalm 119:130.
And Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eats of this bread, he shall live forever...
not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. John 6:51, 58.
Manna could sustain only this earthly existence. It did not prevent death, nor ensure immortality.
Nevertheless the Bread of Heaven would nourish the soul unto everlasting life.
I am that bread of life...This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. John 6:48, 50.
Moreover, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst. John 6:35.
Furthermore, only through dying He could impart life to humankind.
Thus in the words that follow He points to His death as the means of salvation:
The bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:51.
Christ symbolic teaching continues:
Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you...
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood dwelleth in me, and I in him. John 6:53, 56.
To eat the flesh and drink the blood of Christ is to receive Him as a personal Savior, believing that:
He forgives our sins
we are complete in Him.
We become partakers of Christ’s nature by beholding His love. Christ must be to the soul, what food is to the body.
A theoretical knowledge will do us no good. We must receive Him into the heart, so that His life becomes our life, assimilating His love and grace.
Furthermore, the life of Christ that gives life to the world is in His Word.
It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. John 6:63.
I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore. Revelation 1:18.
In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived.
One equal with God passed through death on our behalf. He tasted death for every individual, that through Him everyone might be a partaker of eternal life.
Therefore, He that hath the Son hath life. 1 John 5:12.
The Divinity of Christ is the believer's assurance of eternal life.
He that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:25, 26.
These words could be spoken only by the Deity. All created beings live by the will and power of God.
They are dependent recipients of the life of God.
Only He could say - I have power to lay down My life, and I have power to take it again. John 10:18.
In His Divinity, Christ possessed the power to break the bonds of death.
The life once lost through sin is restored in Christ. He has life in Himself to quicken whom He will.
He has the right to give immortality.
The life that He laid down in humanity, He takes up again and gives to humanity.
This will be fulfilled at the time of Christ's second coming. Then the righteous dead will be raised incorruptible.
Moreover, the living righteous will be translated to Heaven without seeing death.
As touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying:
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Matthew 22:32.
Moreover, If there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
and if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.1 Corinthians 15:13, 14.
Furthermore, If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
But Christ has risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that sleep. 1 Corinthians 15:19, 20.
In Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22.
Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 1 Corinthians 15:54, 55.
The vine was greatly admired by ancient Jews.
I am (Jesus) the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. John 15:1.
Here is a truth for us to study:
Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away:
and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:2.
I am the reality. I am the true vine. As sinners you should prize me above all earthly things.
The branch can not live separated from the vine. No more can you live unless you are abiding in Me.
Through Me alone is the spiritual life received.
I am the vine, ye are the branches. John 15:5.
The sap which flows through the vine nourishes the branches, so that they may flourish and bear fruit.
The spirit of the Master will actuate His followers.
We can do nothing without Christ. No branch can bear fruit except through a connection with Christ.
So the soul dead in trespasses and sins receives life through this connection. Thus by faith in Him as a personal Savior the union is formed.
Abide in Me, and I in you...He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit. John 15:4, 5.
I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8.
Moreover, I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me. Isaiah 45:5.
Furthermore, I am a great King, Malachi 1:14; and beside me there is no Savior. Isaiah 43:11.
Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:22.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God. Isaiah 41:10.
God said unto Moses - I Am That I Am. Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14.
This was the pledge of Israel's deliverance.
When Christ came in the likeness of humans, He declared Himself the I AM.
The Child of Bethlehem, the meek and lowly Savior, is God manifest in the flesh. 1 Timothy 3:16.
Moreover, He says to us - I Am the:
Lord that maketh all things. Isaiah 44:24.
Living Bread. John 6:51.
Way, the Truth, and the Life. John 14:6.
Light of the world. John 8:12.
Resurrection and life. John 11:25.
True Vine. John 15:1.
Good Shepherd. John 10:11.
I AM.
Know ye that Jehovah, He is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves. Psalm 100:3.
O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Psalm 95:6.
Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of His judgment is come:
and worship Him that made Heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:7.
