God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, if we confess them.
He says:
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God. Jeremiah 3:13.
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean;
from all your filthiness and from all your idols will I cleanse you. Ezekiel 36:25.
The conditions of obtaining mercy from God are simple and reasonable.
Therefore, He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:
but whoso confessed and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13.
Moreover, God is just to His own Law, and yet the justifier of all them that believe.
Furthermore, it is His will to:
cleanse us from sin - Christ gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father. Galatians 1:4.
make us His children - You have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
And because you are sons/daughters…then heirs of God through Christ. Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6, 7.
enable us to live a holy life - A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you…
and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ezekiel 36:26, 27.
God promises:
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and He is the propitiation for our sins:
and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1.
Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25.
God may delay the answer to our prayer or give us something other than what we ask.
Nevertheless not so when we ask for deliverance from sin.
Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with those that love Him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9.
God who made the world has not left it to run itself. He manages its affairs by His almighty power.
The same God, who so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, John 3:16,
has not left the purchase of the blood of Christ to the mercy of the adversary of God and people.
The love and benevolence of God have not ceased. His mercy is still directed toward the fallen children of Adam and Eve.
The love of God has been exercised toward the world, notwithstanding the rebellion of humans.
Thus when the fullness of time had come, Deity was glorified by pouring upon the world a flood of healing grace that was never to be obstructed or withdrawn till the plan of salvation is fulfilled.
But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son,
much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:8-10.
How much easier would it seem to the human mind for God to destroy the creatures He had made, and so put an end to sin.
Nevertheless, He gave His Son for the sins of the world.
Christ drew aside the veil that hid God's glory from our view, and revealed the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy. Isaiah 57:15.
Therefore, we may commit the keeping of our souls to God as unto a faithful Creator and Redeemer, because Jesus died to save faulty creatures just as we are.
This is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent…
I have manifested Thy name (character) unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world…
For I have given unto them the words which Thou gavest Me and they have believed that Thou didst send me…
And for their sake I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. John 17:3, 6, 8, 19.
Jesus never purchased peace by compromise.
He was too much a friend of humans to remain silent while they were pursuing a course that would ruin their souls - the souls He purchases with His own blood.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. Titus 2:11.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all. 1 Timothy 2:3-6.
Furthermore, the Spirit of God is freely bestowed to enable everyone to lay hold upon the means of salvation.
Thus Christ, the true Light, lighteth every man that cometh into the world. John 1:9.
Humans fail of salvation only through their own willful refusal of the gift of life.
Therefore, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me,
that I am the Lord which exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth:
for in these things I delight, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23, 24.
Take a look at some examples of how the Bible writers answer the question - Why is God trustworthy?
I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Psalm 36:7; Exodus 34:6
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
For they cried to God in the battle, and He was intreated of them. He is my refuge and my fortress: my God. 1 Chronicles 5:20; Psalm 91:2
I know that Thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from Thee. Thou art worthy, O Lord, for thou hast created all things. Job 42:2; Revelation 4:11
As for God, His way is perfect; I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. 2 Samuel 22:4; Psalm 18:30
For Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also becomes my salvation. Isaiah 12:2
Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent His angel, and delivered His servants that trusted in Him. Daniel 3:28
He is the living God, the Savior of all men. 1 Timothy 4:10
Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain. 2 Corinthians 8:9; Revelation 5:12
I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. Psalm 52:8
Every word of God is pure; The word of the Lord is tried. Psalm 18:30; Proverbs 30:5
For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen. 2 Corinthians 1:20
Therefore, trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5, 6.
Do you have the assurance that you are precious in the sight of your Redeemer as the apostle Paul did?
After being ransomed by the sacrifice of Christ, washed from sin in His blood, clothed in His righteousness and thus hid with Christ in God - he is persuaded that He who has conquered death is able to keep that which is committed to His trust.
I will raise him on the last day. John 6:40.
The Bible is a transcript of the will of God and an expression of His Divine wisdom. It gives humans the understanding of the great problems of life and principles of action.
Moreover, to all who heed its precepts it will prove an unerring guide, keeping them from wasting their lives in misdirected effort.
Wisdom from above must be communicated to the soul. It is the entrance of God's Word that giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Psalm 119:130.
According to His Divine power God hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3.
Moreover, all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
There is nothing in the Bible that is defective or misleading.
Therefore, it is not to be tested by peoples’ ideas of science, but science is to be brought to the test of the unerring standard.
The teachers of the present day can use only the ability of previous teachers.
Thus the trumpet of human greatness may be sounded, but it is with an uncertain sound.
It is not reliable and the salvation of souls cannot be assured by it.
God has given to human beings a perfect rule of life in His holy Law. It is to maintain its claim upon them until the close of time.
Furthermore, it is based upon the foundation of love to God and love to humans. Therefore, the obedience to its precepts comprises their whole duty to them.
Christ gave an example of obedience to the Law of God in His own life, showing how its requirements extend beyond the outward acts and taking into consideration the thoughts and intents of the heart.
And the very God of peace to sanctify you wholly; and I pray to God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23, 24.
Moreover, Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage?
He retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy. Micah 7:18.
We have the promise:
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.
Furthermore, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:14, 15.
Therefore, we are to look and live - The Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole:
and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. Numbers 21:8.
Then, the bottom line is:
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Isaiah Isaiah 45:22.
It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22, 23.
Though we are sinful and unworthy, we must cast our helpless souls upon the merits of the crucified and risen Savior.
Then God will restore unto us the joy of his salvation, and uphold us by his free Spirit. Psalm 51:12.
Thus by His grace through faith we may reckon ourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ. Romans 6:11.
Therefore, God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9.
Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God,
which keepeth covenant and mercy with those that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9.

Therefore, I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and my iniquity have I not hid.
I said: I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Psalm 32:5.
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7.
Furthermore, the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil. 2 Thessalonians 3:3.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. Romans 3:23-26.
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9.
He has pledged His Word by His own greatness and infinity that He will bestow pardon and peace upon all who will come to Him in the name of Jesus.
Though God has assured us that faithful is He that has promised to forgive us, still He will be just to His own Law.
Without a shadow of a doubt, God is able to fulfill His promises. His resources and love toward humanity are infinite.
Moreover, He employs them all in accomplishing His will.
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us. 1 John 5:14.
Therefore, I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation. Psalm 40:10.
