Through his earthly instruments, Satan orchestrated Christ’s crucifixion.
This was his last act of cruelty, hoping to see that Jesus will use His divinity to deliberate Himself.
If this was to happen, humanity would have Satan as their master without a second chance.
The Son of God could have prevented and refused to come under the dominion of death.
Nevertheless, He didn’t use His Divine power. Furthermore, He voluntarily laid down His life, that He might give life back to humanity.
Thus He brought immortality to light.
