What Does Jesus Do For Us?

Jesus is a personal Savior to us today as certainly when He walked as a man among men. He lives. 

It is a fact that He is not in Joseph's new tomb - He is risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Christ paid an infinite price for us on the cross of Calvary. 

He still identifies His interest with that of suffering humanity - 

And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels.

In this post we give many examples of what Jesus does for us. 

Moreover, how His everlasting arms are placed around us, when we fall on the Rock and are broken.

Remember the promise - He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Jesus is in Heaven today. He is doing His appointed work. We all are His first priority.

God puts humanity to the test in this life. Those who are disloyal to Jesus in this world would be disloyal to Him in the world to come. 

Moreover, they would create a second rebellion in Heaven.

Jesus opens a way whereby we as sinners can be reconciled to God. 

The Majesty of Heaven became poor, that we through His poverty might become rich - rich in spiritual attainments and of eternal life.

But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to those that believe in his name. John 1:12.

Jesus gives humanity a second chance and Heaven will be the reward of obedience.

How grievous sin must be that no less a remedy than the death of the Son of God could save humans from the consequences of their guilt.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17.

If the Word of God abides in us, we are the elect of God and will bring forth fruit in steady faith - the faith that works by love and purifies the soul from every moral defilement.

Abide in me, and I in you. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:4, 7.

Jesus bears the penalty of mankind's past transgressions and by imparting to people His righteousness, makes it possible for them to keep God's holy law.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Examples of what Jesus do for us

Moreover, He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. Ephesians 3:20.

I do My Father’s will and My life is safe

Jesus had spoken to Mary at His visit to the temple: Wist ye not that I must be about My Father's business? Luke 2:49.

Furthermore, for thirty years He had been to her a loving and obedient son. Moreover, His love hasn’t changed. 

However, the time had come for Jesus to do His Father's work.

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. John 6:38.

These words became the keynote of His whole life and ministry. Everything else was deferred to His work of redemption for which He had come into the world to accomplish.

No earthly ties must hold Him from His mission as Son of the Most High and Savior of the world. He must stand free to do the will of God.

This lesson is also for us. The claims of God are paramount even to the ties of human relationship.

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him...

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:6, 10.

Christ’s disciples warned Him on the way back to Judea:

Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? John 11:8.

Jesus answered:

Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. John 11:9.

In other words, I am under the guidance of My Father.  My life is safe as long as I do His will.

My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. John 4:34.

In the same manner we are under the guidance of Jesus, who commissions us:

All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations...

Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Matthew 28:18-20.

Jesus ministers in the True Sanctuary in Heaven

Jesus began to minister in the Heavenly Sanctuary after His ascension. 

Though the Sanctuary and our great High Priest would be invisible to human sight, He is still by His Spirit the Minister of the church on earth.

Thus His parting promise is fulfilled - Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Matthew 28:20.

He works with earthly ministers and His energizing presence is with His church.

Seeing then that we have a great high priest...Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession...

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16.

Jesus explains that the secret of their (disciples and ours) success would be in asking for strength and grace in His name. 

Thus every sincere prayer is heard in Heaven.

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:24.

It ascends to the Sanctuary where Jesus ministers if the heart is in it. Moreover, He presents it to the Father with the incense of His own perfection.

John writes concerning scenes applicable for our time today. 

The attention of the loyal and true followers of Christ would be attracted to the open door of the most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary.

The temple of God was opened in Heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His testament. Revelation 11:19.

Thus by faith we would follow Jesus within the veil where He ministers above the Ark of God containing His immutable Law.

The prophet described the faithful ones:

Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:12.

This is the group that excites the wrath of the dragon because they obey God, and are loyal to His commandments.

Jesus lives and intercedes for us

Jesus is a living Savior. Moreover, He is the Anointed One of God, seeking to transform our characters to His own. 

Christ has brought in everlasting righteousness and made reconciliation for sin.

Thus He is our only hope. Furthermore, He is the One that ever lives to make intercession for every individual soul.

Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25.

Christ’s offering is complete. Thus as our Intercessor He executes His self-appointed work. 

Jesus holds before God the censer containing His own spotless merits and the prayers, confessions, and thanksgiving of His people.

Even now, the Captain of our salvation intercedes for us as a Conqueror claiming His victory in the courts above.

Jesus is the only Mediator

For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5.

He is performing His work in the Most Holy Place. In His intercession as our advocate, Christ needs no human virtue.

He is the only sin-bearer and sin-offering.

If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 

and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1, 2.

Our position today is like that of the Israelis on the day of Atonement.

When the high priest entered the most holy place, representing the place where our High Priest is now interceding with God - 

every heart was to be bowed in contrition, pleading for the pardon of transgression.

How much more essential in this anti-typical day of atonement that we understand the work of our High Priest, and know what duties are required of us.

Therefore, those who by faith follow Christ in His work of the final Atonement will receive the benefits of His mediation.

Jesus gives us His grace

He is imparting grace to His followers today as He did to the early disciples.

He has promised that as our day is, our strength shall be. Deuteronomy 33:25.

By His grace we may bear all the burdens of the present and perform its duties. He promises grace only for the day. 

He bids us not to burden ourselves with the cares and troubles of tomorrow.

Take therefore no thought for tomorrow: for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. 

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:34.

Christ's gifts are ever fresh, supplying soul's satisfaction and joy.

Each new gift increases the capacity of the receiver to appreciate and enjoy the blessings of the Lord.

It is all a trust from God to be employed to His glory and the salvation of others such as:

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1 Corinthians 3:9.

Jesus gives grace for grace. In other words, if you abide in Him, the fact that you receive a rich gift today insures the reception of a richer gift tomorrow.

The words of Jesus to Nathanael express the way of God's dealing with the children of faith. 

With every fresh revelation of His love, He declares to the receptive heart:

Believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. John 1:50.

He supplies strength for every duty

Go work today in my vineyard. Matthew 21:28.

God accomplishes great things through humble people now as He did in ancient times. 

For He is the same yesterday, and forever. Hebrews 13:8.

Therefore, we are to go forward in His strength and trusting in the mighty God:

If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31, 32, 35, 37-39.

Furthermore, every opposing influence, whether open or secret may be successfully resisted:

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6.

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19

Thus we are hidden with Christ in God. 

Therefore, all glory belongs to Him, who has anointed us with the oil of gladness by His Divine efficiency.

Then we go forth, working like inspired laborers together with God.

Jesus knows us individually

Christ is also touched with the feeling of our infirmities. 

He knows the wants of each of His created beings and reads the hidden, unspoken grief of every heart.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He cares for His feeble, sickly, wandering sheep. He knows them all by name.

The distress of every sheep and every lamb of His flock touches His heart of sympathizing love, and the cry for aid reaches His ear.

I lay down my life for the sheep...I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. John 10:15, 11.

We are prone to look to our fellow-men for sympathy and uplifting, instead of looking to Jesus. 

In His mercy and faithfulness, God often permits those in whom we place confidence to fail us. 

Thus we may learn the folly of trusting people.

He was tempted in all points like we are, and He knows how to succor those that are tempted. 

Now He is at the right hand of God. Furthermore, He is our advocate who makes intercession for us.

Look to Jesus constantly. Confess your secret sins alone before God. 

Acknowledge your heart wanderings to Him who knows perfectly how to treat your case.

Then claim the blessing. Come to God just as you are and let Him heal all your infirmities. 

Press your case to the throne of grace. He will give you the victory when coming to Him with a contrite heart.

Then you may bear a sweet testimony of freedom, showing forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 

He will not misapprehend or misjudge you.

Jesus knows the sorrows that we feel to the depths of our being, but which we cannot express. 

When all things seem dark and unexplainable, remember the words of Christ:

What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. John 13:7.

He works in us

The Jews of old were self-deceived. They rejected the teachings of Christ because He exposed the secrets of their hearts and rebuked their sins.

Therefore, they would not come to the light, fearing that their deeds would be reproved. They chose darkness rather than light.

This is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19.

The Jews thought that in crucifying Christ they were doing God's service.

What about us today. Are we able to see the light Jesus sets before humans. Be mindful that Satan presents his darkness as well.

While he is constantly and deceitfully crying, "Light is here; truth is here," 

Jesus is saying: I am the truth; I have the words of eternal life. John 14:6; John 6:68.

Moreover, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12.

God gives to us all sufficient evidence to balance our faith on the side of truth.

If we surrender to Christ we will choose the light and reject the darkness.

We'll do as did the Jews, if we maintain the independence of the natural heart and refuse the correction of God.

Thus we’ll stubbornly carry out our purposes and our ideas in the face of the plainest evidence. 

Additionally, we’ll be in danger of the same deception that came upon them.

Therefore we may profess to be a great length as they did, and yet flatter ourselves that we are doing work for God.

Conclusion

Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Matthew 28:20.

Jesus is waiting to do great things for us and to fill us with all the fullness of God. 

We should believe in His promises for He keepeth truth forever, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Psalm 146:6; 92:15.

Therefore, we can be certain that Jesus does for us above all that we can ask or think.

He also states the condition: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4.10. 

The more we humble ourselves, the more exalted will God's love appear.

The grace and righteousness of Christ will not avail for one who:

Therefore, there is no room for Christ in the heart of one who does not realize his/her need of Divine light and aid.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; t

hough they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18.

Jesus is today in Heaven preparing mansions for those who love Him. 

Furthermore, preparing a kingdom for all who are partakers of His self-denial and self-sacrifice for the good of others.
