Christ was guiltless, yet He bore the consequences of sin.
He was in this world not honoured and unknown, His heart was wrung with anguish, and His life was shadowed by grief and sorrow.
Behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow.
Lamentations 1:12.
The guilt of every sin of the whole world was pressing upon His soul.
Christ was guiltless, yet He bore the consequences of sin. He was innocent, yet offering Himself as a transgressors substitute.
Thus He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
By faith we can accept the atonement that has been made.
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God. 1 Peter 3:18.
Questions to ponder
Why was this Great sacrifice made?
Why only Christ could provide the remedy the mortal sinners need?
