New to Grafted To Grow and not sure were to begin?
The Seventh-day Sabbath was inaugurated at the end of the creation of humans and their home planet. It is all on the part of God.
It is designed to be a continual blessing and gift to humanity. Moreover, to bring us into communion with Him after the fall and help us in our Christ's like character development.
These sources will be of help to discover what God says about it, contrary to what the devil and humans say, think or lie about it.
Thus you will find biblical answers to very important questions such as:
Through whom were all things created? Who made the Sabbath? Who blessed and sanctified it?
When was the Seventh-day Sabbath made? Of what is the Sabbath a memorial? For whom was it made?
When and how did the Seventh-day Sabbath become part of God’s moral Law?
What is the Sabbath sign of? What is it designed for and what is its purpose?
How does the Seventh-day Sabbath show God’s creative and redemptive power?
What blessing is promised to those who keep the Sabbath? How will it become an end-time test of worshiping the true God?
Will the holy Sabbath be kept in the new earth? And more…
God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it at the end of creation. He had rested on the Sabbath in the joy of His completed work.
Thus He set it apart to a holy use.
It was ordained for humans. Moreover, everything that God had made, behold, it was very good;
and the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy.
He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered. It was a memorial of the work of creation, and thus a sign of God's power and His love.
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,
even His eternal power and Godhead. Romans 1:20.
As we behold God’s power in nature we find comfort. For the Word that created all things is He who speaks life to the soul.
This is the message written in nature, which the Sabbath is appointed to keep in memory.
To whom then will ye liken Me, or shall I be equal? Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Isaiah 40:25-29.
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:22.
Hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. Ezekiel 20:20.
The Seventh-day Sabbath had been made known to humankind in Eden.
After creating the planet earth and everything needed for Adam and Eve to live in Eden, the next day - the seventh day of God's rest He had a face to face communion with them.
At that time the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy. Job 38:7.
Thus the entire Universe welcomed human species - the special creation in God's image.
Only Satan and His followers were not excited. They saw humans as another to battle over God's allegiance.
Today is not different.
Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
He had led the man of sin to institute a false sabbath.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws; Daniel 7:25.
God regarded His creative work when it was done as very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
The day is made by the revolution of the earth on its axis. Moreover, the earth began to revolve as soon as it was created.
Therefore, there were days before the sun was made to rule the day. During the fourth revolution the sun was made for a light-bearer.
When the earth was created, darkness was upon the face of the deep. Consequently the first day of time began in darkness.
Before the earth had completed its first revolution, God said: Let there be light, and there was light.
God saw that the light was good, and God divided the light from the darkness.
Then what was the Sabbath designed to do for humans?
It is to be a continual reminder of God's greatness and of their dependence upon Him. Moreover, of their duty to serve Him with humility.
Everyone is to look to God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, for light and guidance. Him alone are they to honor and worship.
After the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the hosts of them - on the next day - the seventh day, God had established His memorial of creation.
He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered. Psalm 111:4.
Blessing is pronounced on time as it was on living creatures. God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.
Furthermore, after creating the planet earth and everything needed for Adam and Eve to live in Eden - on the seventh day of God's rest He had a face to face communion with them.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8.
Therefore, if Jesus was on the earth today, He would observe the Seventh-day Sabbath.
The object of God's work in this world is the redemption of humans and the Sabbath is designed to bring them into communion with God.
Therefore that which is necessary to be done on the Sabbath in the accomplishment of this work is in accordance with the Seventh-day Sabbath law of the Bible.
Exodus 20:10. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God...
He did not set apart one day and any day in seven, but one particular day - the seventh day.
Thus the blessed and sanctified rest in God was made by Him for humans and not humans for the sabbath.
Furthermore, the Son of Man is Lord also of the sabbath. Mark 2:27.
Obviously, only the One who created the Seventh-day Sabbath as hallowed and blessed time has the exclusive authority to do any changes.
The law of God is truth - unchanging and eternal truth. It is holy, just and good.
God's law is a transcript of His own character and reflects the principles of His government where the law of love is its foundation.
God is love, and His law is love. Its two great principles are love to God and humankind. Love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:10.
If the Law of God could have been changed or abrogated, then Christ need not have suffered the consequences of our transgression.
He came to explain the relation of the law to humans and to illustrate its precepts by His own life of obedience.
The Law of God serves to detect sin and discovers the defects in the moral character. Christian character is perfected through obedience to its requirements.
It applies to all commandments, including the forth:
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant,
nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:
wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:8-11.
The Law of God existed before the creation of humans or else Adam and Eve could not have sinned.
The principles of the law were not changed after their transgression. Nevertheless, they were arranged and expressed to meet humanity in their fallen condition.
The Ten Commandments are based on the great fundamental principle of love - spoken by God and written by His own hand.
They are of Divine origin and not a human constitution - given to humanity for their instruction of life, covering their duty to God and people.
The fourth commandment is the only one of all ten in which both the Name and the Title of the Lawgiver are found.
It is the only one that shows by whose authority the law is given. Thus it contains the seal of God, affixed to His law as evidence of its authenticity and binding force.
Thus all who keep the seventh-day Sabbath holy signify by this act that they are worshippers of Jehovah. To do it, they themselves must be holy by Christ’s grace.
The Seventh-day Sabbath is a sign of Christ's creative and redemptive power. It conveys His love, truth and wisdom.
It recalls humankind's ancient glory and thus witnesses God's purpose to restore His moral image in us.
On the other hand, the Sabbath of the fourth commandment is a sign of human”s allegiance to God as long as there are any upon the earth to serve Him, declaring to the world their loyalty to the only true and living God - the Sovereign of the Universe.
God designed that by a faithful observance of the Sabbath, His people should continually be reminded of their accountability to Him as their Creator and their Redeemer.
Furthermore, through the service of love to bring people into communion with God.
Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations;
that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. Exodus 31:13.
In order to keep the sabbath holy, we ourselves must be holy.
They that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations;
and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. Isaiah 58:12.
The loyal have turned into the way of God’s commandments under the proclamation of the third angel’s message.
Thus they respected, honored and glorified Him who created the heavens and the earth.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Revelation 14:12.
The light of God’s Word has called the attention to His holy commandments, revealing the breach made in the law by the papal authority.
For all who search the Scriptures for themselves will see that the Law of God stands immutable and eternal.
God's memorial - the Sabbath will endure through eternal ages.
Thus two parties were developed: the worshipers of the beast and his image, and the worshipers of the true and living God.
The seal of God is a sign of His authority and a mark of His approval.
For the Lord is a great, true and living God, and a great King above all gods, an everlasting King. Psalm 95:3. Jeremiah 10:10.
God’s seal is found in the fourth commandment. It points to God as Creator of all you can think of.
The Bible always cites His creative power when presenting God's claim over reverence and worship above other gods.
All the gods of the nations are idols; but the Lord made the heavens. Psalm 96:5.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for thou hast created all things. Revelation 4:11.
The fourth commandment gives the name and the title of the Lawgiver. No other commandment in the Decalogue shows by whose authority the law is given.
The Seventh-day Sabbath is a sign of His rightful authority over the beings He has made.
The seal was taken from the law when the Sabbath was changed by the papacy.
The disciples of Jesus are called upon to restore it to its rightful position as the Creator's memorial and the sign of His authority.
We are to receive God's Word as supreme authority. Furthermore, we are to recognize human government as an ordinance of divine appointment.
Moreover we should teach obedience to it as a sacred duty, within its legitimate sphere.
Nevertheless, when its claims conflict with the claims of God - We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29.
Hear the words of Christ again:
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:
but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19.
In the last conflict with Satan those who are loyal to God will be forbidden to buy or sell, because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers.
The obedient will live by the promise: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure;
They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. Psalm 37:19; Isaiah 33:16.
The Sabbath is a test question. Therefore, how you treat this question places you either on God's side or Satan's side.
The third angel's message declares that the Creator had always required and always will require obedience to His moral law.
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Two parties are to be developed - those who:
worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark
receive the seal of the living God and have the Father's name written in their foreheads.
It is important to know and discern when it might become a conflict between you and God.
At the beginning it will be between you and the state as it happened in the past. Work on Sunday will not be permitted.
When they go a little farther and say you must keep Sunday and you shall not observe Saturday, then everyone that took the position would have the mark of the beast.
Jesus crowned His argument by declaring Himself the Lord of the Sabbath - One above all questions and above all authorities.
Furthermore, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. The institutions that God has established are for the benefit of humanity.
Thus the Seventh-day Sabbath is linked to humanity as strong as Jesus is.
It is a part of God’s standard of righteousness and designed as a gift for humans through their creation, justification, sanctification and glorification, and whole eternity.
Therefore to replace it with mere things the devil and people come up with is to replace the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent.
God’s Law is now almost universally disregarded and made void. It is our privilege to say:
It is time for Thee, Lord, to work; for they have made void Thy law. Psalm 119:126.
Many cry out today: Away with the commandments of God; crucify that law, just as at Christ’s time they cried - Away with Christ; crucify Him, crucify Him - because that law condemns their iniquities.
